ENDURALINER

Vinyl Liner Fast Facts

  • Vinyl Liners are placed inside the formed shape of a pool. Made of a heavy-gauge vinyl, they are used to contain the water within the inner surfaces of the walls and bottom.

  • Vinyl liners are chemically inert, and enable the use of various materials as pool walls.

  • Vinyl liners are used in virtually all above-ground pools and most non-masonry, in-ground pools.

  • Vinyl swimming pool liners are protected against chemical degradation and UV fading. They also are extremely cold-resistant and crack-proof.

  • Vinyl liners create a water-tight seal, preventing water loss.

  • Vinyl liners have strong, double-welded seams stand up to winter's worst weather conditions.

  • Vinyl liners are computer-designed and cut for a perfect fit every time.

  • Available in a variety of colors and patterns, vinyl liners are available in both stock sizes and custom sizes.

  • With proper care, vinyl liners—depending upon their gauge and quality—can last for 10-20 years. That said, chlorine and other oxidizers should not be allowed to remain in prolonged contact with vinyl liners as bleaching of the color may result.

Blue Wave Enduraliner vinyl pool liners are made of high-quality 100% virgin vinyl that is formulated to last year after year thanks to a clear protective coating that protects the liners from sun, chemicals, bacteria, fungus, and algae. All Blue Wave Enduraliners are custom built to fit perfectly and must pass "Zero Defect" quality assurance testing.

Types of Vinyl Pool Liners

It is said that the most important part of a swimming pool is the pool liner. Here we present a look at the different kinds of vinyl swimming pool liners available today.
Vinyl liners for above-ground pools fall into these categories:

  • Overlap liners are designed so that the excess liner material on the pool wall simply overlaps the pool, held in place underneath the top rail of the above-ground pool. If the pool requires an overlap-style liner you will be able to see a small amount of the liner under the top rail of the pool. Overlap liners are secured by pool coping strips. These strips are sturdy yet flexible, and can be cut to required lengths. For example, if a pool has a 48" or a 52" wall, it uses the same liner. The excess is then trimmed off.

  • Beaded liners have a very small groove—or lip—at the top edge of the liner. This small lip is snapped into a track all the way around the inside of the swimming pool at the very top of the pool wall to hold the pool liner in place. If a swimming pool requires a beaded pool liner you will be able to see this track by looking under the top rail on the inside of the above ground swimming pool. There are different beads, so proper selection is critical.

  • Unibead liners, also known as J-Hook, Uni-Bead liners, can be hung on the pool wall like an overlap liner, or can be inserted to a bead receiver track like beaded liners. This type of pool liner is very versatile because use of the hook is optional if the liner needs to be overlapped beyond the pool edge for a proper fit. J-hook liners also are well suited as a replacement for either a beaded or overlap liner. J-hook liners must be purchased specifically for 48", 52" or 54” wall heights. A unibead pool liner is a two-in-one liner that gives the buyer the option to use the pool liner as a beaded pool liner, which requires a bead receiver; or as a J-Hook pool liner, which just hooks onto wall of pool.

  • Expandable Liners—also known as stretch-to-fit liners—are stretchable vinyl liners made to accommodate a dugout hopper in certain above-ground pools. Most expandable vinyl liners are made to fit above-ground pools up to 72 inches deep.

    Liner Quick Tips

    • Replacement swimming pool liners for above-ground pools can be found in thicknesses up to 25 gauge. Be aware that this is only a measure of the thickness of the pool wall material. The floor of the pool liner may be thinner material. The reason for this is that when a swimmer is in the water, they weigh almost nothing as most of their body consists of water. The walls should be thicker because the sun will shine directly onto the part of the liner that is not under the water and wear it out sooner.

    • If a vinyl-lined pool is being emptied out for any reason, great care should be taken to keep the pool liner wet so as to avoid possible shrinkage. It also is important to guard against the presence of sharp or abrasive objects in vinyl-lined pools
