Olefin: A synthetic fiber derived from an alkene and initially created by an Italian chemist, olefin was introduced to the United States in 1960. Considered the ideal umbrella fabric, olefin has the bulk of a very resilient fiber as well as the lowest static of manufactured fiber, yet it is extremely lightweight. Olefin also is very resistant to abrasion, stain, sunlight, and chemicals. It absorbs minimal moisture while whisking it away for quick dry time. Known for long-lasting durability, olefin fabric offered by Blue Wave is 100-percent solution dyed and backed by a 30-month warranty.

Acrylic: Created from 100% solution-dyed yarns to prevent fading or wash-out, Acrylic fabric is super resilient to stand up to even the most damaging rays—season after season. Used predominately for marine covers and boat interiors, it won’t rot or mildew like cotton fabrics.
